A few years ago we had the opportunity to begin work with a company called Greenhouse GO. The product, Carbon Planner, would change the way urban planners prepared new build projects. This summer, Stanford University acquired Carbon Planner.
Carbon Planner stands as our first venture into the world of urban planning projects. CEO Pat Dawe (formerly of RNL Design) came to us with a sophisticated model for calculating green building standards. The team needed help creating a powerful web product, but also a digital strategy for the unique platform.
Over the course of three years we've worked alongside Pat to refine and perfect the GHG carbon mitigation tool. And by late 2016, Stanford University took note.
While this digital tool may break new ground, the commercial real estate industry has been slow to welcome such tools. Drone footage and VR technology aside, the industry has yet to invest in such technology.
Stanford University's Civil and Environmental Engineering team took the first step towards such an investment, and has plans to further develop a tool that will help the growing California development landscape.
With emissions data, we can make predictions. And with predictions, we can better poise our communities for positive (and greener) change long term.
